The awards were presented at the Artificial Intelligence and Visual Design Competition we organized to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic. The finalists of the competition gathered on the evening of February 21, Wednesday, at the GİF Safveti Pasha Campus.
More than three hundred works applied to the competition themed "Turkey's Second Century." Our youth aged 18-29 imagined the future using generative artificial intelligence tools. The visuals developed by the contestants using Midjourney, DALL-E, or Bing Create software presented future perspectives in various fields, from space mining to sustainable agriculture, smart cities to renewable energy sources, and space colonies to robots in social life.
The designs submitted to the competition were evaluated by a jury consisting of Fehmi Bilge, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Turkey Design Foundation, Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Chairman of the Board of the T3 Foundation, Hatice Özdemir Tülün, founder of the Portakal Ağacı platform, Hakkı Alkan, founder of ShiftDelete, creative director Harun Tan, and software developer and entrepreneur Ahmet Oğuz Koca. Our jury determined the winners by considering the designs in terms of prompt quality, visual quality, relevance to the theme, and originality criteria.
During the night when the awards were presented, the finalists shared what inspired them during the application process, how they improved their prompts, the role of artificial intelligence in their visual design tools, their design development processes, and how they enhanced their prompts.
In her speech at the ceremony, our General Manager Makbule Çabuk expressed her happiness in imagining our country's second century together with our youth. She stated her satisfaction with the intense interest shown in the Artificial Intelligence and Visual Design Competition, which we conducted as a first in Turkey, and described the common elements she identified in the submitted works. She emphasized that in our youth's vision of the future, the existence of our historical heritage continues, that a human-centered approach is maintained, and that expectations and dreams regarding technological developments are predominant. She added that it is very important for the generation representing the future of our country to dream of placing the geography we live in at the center of the world and that this vision will shape our future.
We thank all the contestants who are a part of our journey.
