Increase Well-Being Strengthen Youth Project

The project carried out by TÜRGEV in Gaziantep supported the psychosocial well-being and resilience of young people who have experienced disasters and crises.

Throughout the year-long activities, art-based workshops, group psychoeducation sessions, social events, and awareness training were conducted. Through creative works such as Kintsugi, marbling, felt needlework, canvas painting, mosaic, wood printing, candle making, and jewelry design, young people found safe spaces to express themselves. Additionally, training sessions on coping with post-traumatic stress, first aid, disaster awareness, and psychosocial support increased the participants' knowledge and preparedness levels.

Nature trips, theater, and cinema events conducted during the project process contributed to the young people's ability to strengthen their social ties. Psychoeducation sessions conducted using the closed group method provided participants with opportunities to share emotions, foster solidarity, and develop coping skills.

The project, which directly reached a total of 813 young people, contributed not only to individual healing processes but also to the development of sustainable approaches to youth work after disasters. The experiences gained during the workshop held at the end of the project were evaluated, and recommendations for strengthening psychosocial support services for young people were shared with stakeholders. The "Enhance Well-Being, Empower Youth" project was successfully completed as a holistic model supporting young people's feelings of hope, resilience, and social belonging.
