A New Project is Starting at GİF Safveti Paşa!
The first steps of a digital library featuring Turkish epics are being taken with the Stories of Dede Korkut. In the project titled “From Oral Culture to Digital Culture: Voice Recordings of Dede Korkut Stories”, Turkish epics will be narrated and recorded by trained project participants, then published and made accessible to the public.
Project participants will receive training in subjects such as “Turkish Mythology,” “Epic Genre and Turkish Culture During the Epic Era,” and “Voice Acting Training.” They will lend their voices to these foundational works of our cultural heritage.
Requirements for Project Participants:
Interest in Turkish folk literature narratives and a desire to voice them
Preferably being an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student
Preferably studying in departments such as Radio, Television and Cinema, Conservatory, or Language and Literature
Participant Commitments:
Passing the interview conducted by the voice-over instructor (voice recording evaluations)
Maintaining full attendance
Completing at least one epic narration by the end of the project and consenting to its publication
The 9-week training program will be led by Prof. Dr. Abdülkadir Emeksiz, Prof. Dr. Dursun Ali Tökel, and Emrullah Uzun.
The training will take place through hands-on sessions at GİF Safveti Paşa and the Üsküdar Youth Center Sound Recording Studio.
