A Cultural Mark in Mevlana’s City: GIF Konya

Konya… For centuries, a center of wisdom, knowledge, and art. This ancient city, which became a spiritual and intellectual hub inspired by Mevlana’s call, “Come, come, whoever you are,” is not only the home of Mevlana but also the birthplace of many great thinkers, mystics, scholars, and statesmen. Now, this deep-rooted heritage meets a new project aimed at supporting the development of young people through art, culture, and education.

As TÜRGEV (Turkey Youth and Education Service Foundation), with the Beautiful Works Factory (GIF) Konya project, we are establishing a new venue that will bring art, culture, and education together for young people. Opening on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Selçuklu Mahmut Sami Ramazanoğlu Anatolian İmam Hatip High School, the center aims to enable youth to express themselves through the transformative power of art and culture while equipping them with skills suited to the demands of the age.

TÜRGEV Chair Yılmaz Meets with Youth
The launch event, attended by TÜRGEV Board Chair Lawyer Hatice Akıncı Yılmaz, will be enriched with artistic workshops, activities, and inspiring talks designed to captivate students’ interest. The program, running from 12:00 to 19:00, will feature artistic workshops and a special concert. Young people will have the opportunity to discover and develop themselves through art and culture.

A Common Language Through Art and Culture
Inspired by Mevlana’s words, “Those who speak the same language do not understand each other; those who share the same feeling do,” GIF Konya will offer young people the chance to explore and develop themselves through art and culture.

Since the project began in October 2024, art and culture-based educational activities have accelerated at Mahmut Sami Ramazanoğlu Anatolian İmam Hatip High School and Seyit Ulugülyağcu İmam Hatip Middle School. GIF Konya will provide youth with the opportunity to enhance their creative skills in an inspiring environment and nurture them as productive individuals of the future.
