Psychological Counseling Center

Our Activities

The Psychological Counseling Center (PDM), established within TÜRGEV in 2019, carries out numerous activities and programs, with a primary focus on psychoeducational training.

Between 2019 and 2020, the Psychological Counseling Center (PDM) provided psychological support exclusively to students residing in TÜRGEV dormitories, organized psychoeducational programs for dormitory administrators, and produced written and visual publications.

With the pandemic period in 2020–2021, PDM began offering psychological training within the framework of the “Psychological Health Support and Empowerment Project,” serving public mental health needs. In addition, it carried out professional development activities for psychology and counseling (PDR) students, organized summits and programs for administrators and all volunteer staff within TÜRGEV, produced regular content for the TÜRGEV Education social media page, and conducted workshops and group sessions, as well as one-on-one activities with smaller target groups.

Social Media Activities
Through its social media work, PDM aims to raise awareness about current issues and new processes brought by the pandemic. The “Monthly Flow Corner,” which includes practices in positive psychology, self-compassion, and mindfulness, highlights time awareness, while the “Monthly Emotion Corner” produces content featuring a different emotion each month.

PDM Bulletin
The PDM Bulletin is a guide prepared for our dormitory administrators and students, designed to help address possible psychological challenges that may arise during the pandemic period.

Managerial Skills Psychoeducation Summit
Recognizing that many managers within TÜRGEV are required by their positions to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues while managing workflows, it was considered beneficial to provide training and skills development in managerial competencies. To this end, over the course of four days, seven experts delivered training sessions on seven different topics.

Professional Development Project for Psychology and Counseling Students
As part of this project, a 90-member team of psychology and counseling students and graduates was formed in September 2020. Among them, 25 serve on the registration team and 20 on the evaluation team, volunteering actively. Within the scope of the project, these members are responsible for evaluating registrations for PDM’s online trainings and documenting post-training data. The project continues to accept new student volunteers.

PDM Field Experiences
Training sessions such as “Being a Psychologist in Court” and “Forensic Psychology” were provided to team members. It is planned to continue supporting their professional development through education in various fields of psychology. Additionally, members are expected to engage in academic studies, fieldwork, and various voluntary projects carried out under PDM.
