With the support of the Turkish National Agency, coordinated by EGADER and in partnership with TÜRGEV, the “Healthy Societies Guided by the Well-Being Star” project implemented a comprehensive training and awareness program for youth workers and volunteer youth. The project was carried out in Istanbul with participants from Türkiye, Italy, Romania, and North Macedonia. Our aim was to empower professionals who can communicate more effectively with young people, support their well-being, and enhance young people’s sense of social responsibility.

Within the scope of this project, we encouraged young people to adopt a balanced lifestyle in physical, mental, and social aspects. In our workshops, we focused on mental, emotional, and physical well-being within the framework of the Well-Being Star model. Addressing themes such as self-awareness, coping with stress, positive self-image, and self-compassion, we aimed to help participants explore their inner worlds, enabling them to provide more effective guidance to others. Sessions incorporating mindfulness practices also supported the process by strengthening emotional resilience.

Our participants formed groups on topics such as environmental, financial, and physical well-being, conducted research, produced outputs, and shared these outputs to contribute to the project. The program also included special sessions aimed at improving young people’s environmental awareness and sustainable living habits.

Through our visit to the GSB Youth Center in Istanbul, we observed best practices in volunteer-based youth work firsthand. Additionally, during the city tour, participants had the opportunity to explore Istanbul’s historical and cultural heritage, while our visit to TÜRGEV’s Güzel İşler Fabrikası provided the chance to experience creative workshops and programs that encourage youth productivity.

Throughout the project, we approached the individual’s physical, mental, emotional, and environmental dimensions holistically, aiming to increase young people’s active participation in society and awareness. From institutional visits to leisure activities, every step was designed as a planned, structured, and observation-based learning process.

This project made a significant contribution to our goal of building healthier, more conscious, and stronger societies through youth workers and volunteers.
