History is not just information confined to books; it is a powerful memory that shapes both the present and the future. Through the “Traces of the Past” short film competition, launched by TÜRGEV with the support of the Provincial Directorate of National Education, we invite you to bring forgotten stories from history’s dusty pages into the present and unite them with art.

Competition Theme

Reviving forgotten events and heroes through artistic expression to strengthen historical awareness and encourage young people to create original works.

Objective of the Competition

With the “Traces of the Past” competition, we aim to help young people connect with history and culture by rediscovering forgotten heroes, professions, rituals or events and telling their stories in short-film format. This contest supports participants in blending historical knowledge with artistic expression to become part of our collective memory.

Who Can Participate?

This competition is open to high-school students.

Expectations of Participants

• Produce a short film about a forgotten event, hero, profession or ritual
• Establish an original link between the past and the present
• Present the story in an artistic and compelling way

Competition Category

Short Film (3 to 5 minutes in length)

Submission Format

• Short films of 3 to 5 minutes that artistically present a historical event, cultural element or forgotten hero
• Emphasis on technical quality, storytelling power and historical authenticity

Evaluation Criteria

• Historical accuracy and originality
• Engaging narrative structure and visual aesthetics
• Depth of message and emotional impact on the audience
• Technical competence and overall presentation quality

Evaluation Process

All projects will be reviewed and scored by a jury from the TÜRGEV Education Commission, which will determine the final results.

Participation Certificate

Every participating student will receive a certificate of participation; selected works will be shared on social-media platforms and featured at art events.

Social Responsibility and Sharing

This competition not only develops individual creative skills but also fosters social consciousness by reviving forgotten stories. A special screening event will be organized after the competition to share these films with a wider audience.
