February 17 World Cat Day stands out as a meaningful awareness day that strengthens the bond of love between humans and animals and reminds us of the importance of a culture of living together. As the Türkiye Youth and Education Service Foundation (TÜRGEV), we act with a sense of responsibility that not only places humans at the center but also respects the right to life of every living being.

We see love for animals as an inseparable part of the set of values we pass on to our youth, and we embrace respect for the right to life as a moral responsibility and a shared social duty. This approach is reflected as a concrete stance in TÜRGEV dormitories and in all the activities we carry out.

We Act Wıth A Sense Of Conscıence And Responsıbılıty

Last March, when it was noticed that a cat was trapped in a wall cavity at our Fatih Mevlanakapı Higher Education Girls’ Dormitory, the dormitory administration and our teams immediately took action. After the situation was identified, coordination was established with the relevant institutions, and through technical interventions, the cat was safely and healthily rescued from the area where it was trapped.

This process became a clear indication of TÜRGEV’s sensitivity to the right to life of all living beings and its compassion-based sense of responsibility reflected in every aspect of daily life.

For us, love for animals is not merely an area of awareness limited to specific days and weeks, but a shared value that should be sustained in the natural flow of life. We attach importance to our young people living in our dormitories acting with this awareness and aim to build a culture of life that strengthens empathy, conscience, and a sense of responsibility.

A Cıvılızatıonal Understandıng Centered On Compassıon

As TÜRGEV, we believe that a fairer and more livable world depends on a balanced understanding of life established with humans, animals, and all living beings. On the occasion of World Cat Day, we draw attention to the protection, care, and loving coexistence of animals and hope to strengthen social awareness in this field.

With a civilization vision centered on compassion, we will continue with determination to support the culture of coexistence and to take responsibility.
