As part of the TÜRGEV Social Innovation Youth Movement Project, we were in Serbia!
With the support of the National Agency and under TÜRGEV’s coordination, the Erasmus project titled Social Innovation Youth Movement: Serbia took place in Serbia from November 12 to 23. Aimed at young people aged 18–30, the project sought to strengthen participants’ awareness of social innovation and encourage them to become catalysts for positive change in society. To this end, participants engaged in numerous cultural and social activities.
During the workshops held throughout the day, participants shared their contributions and expectations for the project. In sessions addressing the core concepts of social innovation and the importance of social entrepreneurship in society, they learned how to establish a social enterprise, the necessary steps in the process, and the potential challenges. Using the World Café method, they explored the fundamental concepts of social entrepreneurship. By rotating discussion topics, participants built a more comprehensive framework and laid the groundwork for future projects.
Guided visits to historically significant sites such as Medijana and the Skull Tower offered valuable insights into Serbian culture, fostering meaningful intercultural interaction. In addition to these visits, participants toured the University of Niš’s Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where they received and compared data on Women’s Entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship practices and policies in both Turkey and Serbia. Finally, a technical visit was made to Vera Leather, a local entrepreneurial example established to contribute to women’s employment and serve as a model for local practices.
