Launched in November, TURKEN UK quickly became a hub for students of various nationalities in England, thanks to its prime location in the heart of London’s universities and language schools, directly opposite the British Museum.

In November, TURKEN UK began operations in its prime location at the heart of London’s universities and language schools, directly opposite the British Museum, quickly becoming a meeting point for students from many nationalities. With contributions from its students ranging from furniture setup to seminar poster design—TURKEN UK has hosted numerous enriching programs.
Among the initiatives designed to support Muslim students’ academic work in the UK and enhance their success are:
ALBANIAN MUSLIM FORUM: Held on the last Friday of each month with over forty Muslim Albanians, extending TURKEN UK’s reach beyond Turkish students to the wider community from our cultural geography.
TURKEN ACADEMIC TALKS & TURKEN TALKS: Platforms where doctoral students or recent graduates in the UK share their research and thesis topics, fostering both cultural and academic exchange.
UNDERSTANDING BRITISH MUSLIMS / ISLAM in the UK: Discussions on the social, political, and economic aspects of living and studying as a Muslim in Britain.
MONTHLY BREAKFAST MEET-UP: Monthly Saturday gatherings encouraging friendships, peer support, and socialization between students in the UK and those born and raised there.
ACADEMIC WRITING COURSE: An 11-week Thursday series led by distinguished academics to teach the essentials of academic writing and research methods.
TURKEN ACADEMIC CLINIC: Weekly Friday sessions with Dr. Behar Sadriu (UCL & SOAS) providing one-on-one academic guidance.
In January, our Chairperson Dr. Fatmanur Altun visited TURKEN UK, meeting with the foundation’s directors to discuss ongoing efforts. Since its launch, TURKEN UK has continued to create value for Muslim students in the UK through its diverse and impactful programs.
