This Voice Is Our Voice

As TÜRGEV, we extend our gratitude to our President for his historic stance in protecting the unity and solidarity of our nation, expressed in his speeches, and we present to members of the press our joint public statement—declaring our open support—together with 266 NGOs that have united under the banner “This Voice Is Our Voice.”

This Voice Is Our Voice

In recent days, we have observed that certain circles are deliberately escalating a campaign in our country aimed at sowing division in society—inciting hatred, hostility, and enmity, and planting seeds of distrust and animosity between men and women.

Through this campaign, an image is being crafted suggesting that women and children in our country are under an unprecedented level of attack—more severe than anywhere else in the world—while at the same time spreading the perception that our social, political, and religious reflexes to prevent such harm have been eroded.

We see a concentrated effort to accuse our politics and society of complicity and hypocrisy, dragging the public into pessimism, and attempting to portray our sacred religion, Islam, alongside such evils. The ultimate aim of these efforts is clear: to undermine the unity and solidarity of the nation, and ultimately to support political engineering schemes that would weaken our state and people.

On March 8 and 9, 2018, our esteemed President, through his speeches, exposed this malicious campaign and took a historic step in defending the dignity of our noble religion, Islam, and in safeguarding the unity and solidarity of our nation. Under his leadership, our country has achieved significant progress in all areas, including freedoms. The improvements in addressing the hardships faced by women and children and in ensuring freedom of conscience are well known to all who live in this country.

As civil society organizations dedicated to the preservation of our nation’s future and the righteous upbringing of our generations, we call upon our opinion leaders, intellectuals, and religious scholars to carry out their work with an awareness of this malicious campaign, for the peace, integrity, and unity of our society.

We express our deep gratitude to our President for his statements on this matter, and we openly declare our support for his historic stance.

We call upon our relevant and competent state institutions—foremost the Presidency of Religious Affairs—along with civil society organizations, the media, and our universities to support this vision.

Respectfully announced to the public.
