TÜRGEV Students Achieve One Success After Another
Eda Nur Sarıçam, a student from our Bahçelievler Higher Education Girls’ Dormitory, won first place at the 10th UIC World High-Speed Rail Congress and Trade Fair with her project presented under the theme “Sharing Information for Sustainable and Competitive Operations.”
In her project, Eda Nur Sarıçam addressed the issue of energy consumption and carbon emissions, drawing attention to one of the most pressing problems of our time—global warming. The project aims to display, directly on train tickets, information about the passenger’s carbon footprint for the chosen travel route. By comparing the average carbon footprint of the passenger with both Türkiye’s and the world’s averages, it seeks to raise environmental awareness.
Additionally, the project compares rail travel with competing modes of transportation such as air, road, and sea, and calculates how many trees would need to be planted to offset the resulting emissions.
As the TÜRGEV family, we congratulate Eda Nur Sarıçam for this innovative achievement and wish her continued success in her future endeavors.
