TÜRGEV, We Stand United at the Gaza March on 1 January 2026

As TÜRGEV, we will take part in the Gaza march to be held on 1 January 2026 at Galata Bridge, organized under the leadership of TÜGVA, once again demonstrating our moral and humanitarian responsibility toward the oppressed people of Gaza.

23 December 2025

At the press conference hosted by the Türkiye Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) and organized by the National Will Platform, details of the march in support of Gaza, to be held on Thursday, 1 January 2026, at Galata Bridge, were shared with the public. As the Turkey Youth and Education Service Foundation (TÜRGEV), we also attended the meeting and shared our assessments regarding the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The Ceasefire Has Not Changed the Reality on the Ground

Speakers at the meeting emphasized that despite the declared ceasefire in Gaza, the humanitarian conditions on the ground have not improved. It was underlined that this issue has gone beyond political boundaries and has become a test of humanity’s collective conscience. It was stated that lasting peace can only be achieved through justice and accountability, and that the reconstruction of Gaza should be addressed as a shared responsibility of the international community.

Humanitarian Responsibility for Palestine Cannot Be Postponed

Our General Manager, Dr. Selim Gençal, stated that the oppression in Gaza continues despite the ceasefire, drawing attention to the fact that winter conditions have further aggravated the humanitarian situation in the region. He emphasized that difficulties in accessing shelter, heating, and basic necessities have deeply affected families and children in particular, and stressed that the situation has become an urgent humanitarian responsibility that cannot be delayed.

In his remarks, Dr. Gençal said:
“A child feeling cold, a family being left homeless, and people losing all their memories under the rubble remain painful realities even after the ceasefire. The issue is not only the cessation of violence, but the rebuilding of life itself.”

As TÜRGEV, We Act with a Sense of Moral Responsibility

Emphasizing that the issue of Palestine has long been on our agenda as TÜRGEV, Dr. Gençal stated that we prioritize enabling young people to understand the events through reliable sources and to grasp their humanitarian dimension. In this context, through our exhibitions titled “The Language of Witnessing: Gaza and Literacy,” “5W1Q Jerusalem,” and “Loyalty,” we aim to help young people bear witness to what is happening and transform this awareness into a lasting sense of responsibility.

Recalling that our Foundation has entered its 30th year, Dr. Gençal noted that with this institutional experience, we will continue to bring young people together with a strong sense of moral and humanitarian responsibility.

A Common Call from All Segments of Society

At the press conference, representatives from the sports community also expressed their support for the march. Representatives of the four major clubs of the Turkish Super League emphasized that the Palestinian issue is a humanitarian responsibility and invited supporters to gather at Galata Bridge on the morning of 1 January.

We Invite Everyone to Gather at Galata Bridge on 1 January 2026

On the first day of the new year, Thursday, 1 January 2026, we invite everyone to come together at Galata Bridge to collectively demonstrate our conscience and solidarity for Gaza. We call on all people of goodwill to join this meaningful march, to be the voice of the oppressed, and to deliver a strong message to the world.
