TURGEV Women's Hifz Program 2025: Nurturing Female Qur'an Memorizers in Türkiye

7 female Qur'an memorizers graduated from TURGEV's Women's Hifz Program in 2025. Learn how 194 active students earn full scholarships while combining university life with hifz in Türkiye.

27 February 2026

In 2025–2026, seven young women completed their memorization of the Qur'an within the TURGEV Women's Hifz Program — each one a new link in a chain of knowledge stretching back centuries.

TURGEV Board Chair Hatice Akıncı Yılmaz frames this responsibility clearly:
"The tradition of hifz, sustained across centuries on these lands through knowledge, wisdom, and devotion, stands among the most precious trusts of our civilization. Raising generations who have memorized the Qur'an is a manifestation of civilizational awareness — one that keeps alive the consciousness of being entrusted with something sacred."

As of 2025, 194 certified female hifz students continue this journey, balancing university education with dedicated Qur'an memorization in a structured and spiritually grounded environment. Since its establishment in 2013, what began as a vision has grown into one of Türkiye's most enduring models for women's Qur'anic education — built not on ambition alone, but on patience, dedication, and a deep sense of trust in what is being carried.

What Is the TURGEV Women's Hifz Support Program?

The TURGEV Women's Hifz Support Program is a comprehensive educational model designed for young women who are actively memorizing the Qur'an or have already completed their hifz. It brings together financial scholarships, secure dormitory accommodation, academic planning, and individual mentorship under one roof — so that nothing stands between a student and her commitment to the Qur'an.
The program's goal extends beyond memorization. It aims to raise young women who are grounded in knowledge, shaped by character, and guided by a sense of purpose — students who carry the Qur'an not only in memory, but in the way they live. This awareness, as Board Chair Yılmaz puts it, nourishes a generation that draws its direction from revelation and builds its future upon deep-rooted heritage.

From the Students: A Voice from the Hifz Camp

In January 2025, TURGEV held its annual Hifz Camp — a dedicated space for students to step away from the pace of academic life and reconnect with their memorization. Esma Nur Dönmez, one of the participants, shared her experience:
"Having a camp like this in the middle of the school rush really lifts our motivation. Being able to revise my hifz makes me feel so good."
Her words reflect what the program is built on: not pressure, but presence. Not performance, but peace with the path chosen.

A Structured Model for Hifz and University Life

The program operates under the coordination of the Hifz Education Unit, which ensures every student follows a personalized and supervised learning plan. Students residing in TURGEV dormitories attend morning and evening study sessions, maintaining consistent progress in their memorization while continuing their formal university education. With one of the few structured Qur'an memorization scholarship programs for women in Türkiye, TURGEV offers a model that is both academically rigorous and spiritually grounded.

Three-Stage Memorization Process

The hifz journey is structured across three progressive stages, each designed to strengthen memorization, deepen retention, and build long-term consistency. Students who successfully complete the process are guided through obtaining the official Hafiz Certificate issued by the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye (Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı) — formal recognition of a lifelong achievement.
Throughout the year, seminars and motivation programs are organized for both students and instructors, reinforcing not only memorization skills but the broader educational philosophy of the program.

What Does the Women's Hifz Scholarship Cover?

The women's Qur'an memorization scholarship is designed to remove every barrier between a student and her hifz journey. It provides regular financial support, safe and structured dormitory accommodation, individual mentoring, value-based seminars, and academic planning for students pursuing higher education alongside their memorization.
This integrated model makes it possible for young women across Türkiye — and beyond — to pursue both academic excellence and Qur'anic education without having to choose between the two.

Who Is the Program For?

The TURGEV Women's Hifz Program welcomes young women who have completed or are actively engaged in Qur'an memorization, wish to combine university studies with hifz, and are seeking a structured Islamic scholarship environment that supports both academic and spiritual growth.
The program is particularly suited to students who are deeply committed to their faith and are looking for an educational community that understands and honors that commitment.

Hifz in Action: Female Hafiz Students Lead the Mukabele

This Ramadan, our female hifz students are not only listening — they are leading.
Throughout Ramadan 2026, TURGEV hosts a 29-day online mukabele program in which female hafiz students take an active role in collective Qur'an recitation. The program runs daily — Fridays from 11:00–12:00, all other days from 12:00–13:00 — and is open to TURGEV students, staff, and members of the public.
From different cities, at the same hour, on the same verse — voices gathering around the Qur'an. This is what living hifz looks like.

Educational Philosophy: Knowledge, Character, and Steadfastness (Istiqamah)

At TURGEV, hifz education is never approached as memorization alone. A strong generation is raised by hands that first become human, then knowledgeable, then responsible. The program's three guiding principles — knowledge, character, and steadfastness (istiqamah) — shape every aspect of the educational experience, from daily study sessions to annual camps and seminars.
Qur'an memorization, in this framework, becomes a lifelong discipline — one that forms not just what a student knows, but who she becomes.

With seven new graduates and 194 active students, the TURGEV Women's Hifz Program stands as one of Türkiye's most consistent and structured models for female Qur'an memorization. This is not only a scholarship. It is a commitment to a generation — and to what that generation chooses to carry forward.
