With the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and under the coordination of the General Directorate of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the “Breath for the Future” campaign was launched. As part of this initiative, November 11, 2019, was declared National Afforestation Day, and at 11:11 a.m., 11 million saplings were planted simultaneously across 2,023 locations in all 81 provinces of Turkey.

With the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and under the coordination of the General Directorate of Forestry of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the “Breath for the Future” campaign was launched. As part of this initiative, November 11, 2019, was declared National Afforestation Day, and at exactly 11:11 a.m., 11 million saplings were planted across 2,023 locations in all 81 provinces of Turkey.
President Erdoğan, launching the nationwide planting event in Ankara, stated:
“Our goal is a Turkey that regains its emerald green appearance. At a time when global warming dominates the agenda, we are working to protect our air, water, and soil. We are the descendants of an ancestor who said, ‘Even if you knew the Day of Judgment was coming, plant the sapling in your hand.’ I thank our entire nation once again for the interest shown in this campaign.”
Carried out under the slogan “A Sapling Today, Breath Tomorrow,” the campaign not only left 11 million trees as a legacy for a greener Turkey but also set a world record in the process.
To help increase environmental awareness in our country and especially to restore forests that have recently been damaged, TÜRGEV joined this meaningful afforestation campaign with the participation of 450 students from our 37 dormitories.
Our students expressed their happiness at being part of this nationwide initiative, and the excitement for their future was visible in their eyes.
By supporting this awareness project aimed at raising future generations with environmental consciousness and building a greener Turkey, we at TÜRGEV are proud to contribute to our country’s ecological development and to the spread of environmentally friendly policies.
