On its tenth and final day, the Brotherhood Table took place in Pazarcık, the epicenter of the earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, with the participation of our Chairwoman of the Board, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatmanur Altun.
Our Chairwoman stated that the aim of the Brotherhood Table was to evoke the feeling of being hosted at a Ramadan gathering. “We wanted to lay out beautiful tablecloths, set a table, and serve all our guests who gathered around it,” she said, adding: “Although we were the hosts of the invitation, we were met with the hospitality and generosity of these lands.”
Altun expressed that they were inspired by the spirit of solidarity shown by our people after the disaster, noting that this sense of unity strengthens all of us and enhances our spirituality. She wished for the difficulties experienced in the region to be overcome quickly and for the wounds of the disaster to be healed as soon as possible, in honor of the blessed Night of Qadr.
During the event, where prayers were recited for the Qur’an readings completed by our citizens and TÜRGEV students, the spiritual atmosphere of the Night of Qadr and the bittersweet feeling of the closing event were palpable. By the end of the night, however, there were smiles on the faces gathered around the traditional shadow play screen.
Over the course of a month, TÜRGEV visited Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and ten districts of Hatay and Kahramanmaraş, and aims to continue its work in the region with new projects.
