He graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Marmara University in 2000. He completed his master’s degree in Economics at Sabancı University in 2002 and earned his PhD in Economics in 2008 at the University of Minnesota in the United States.
Between 2008 and 2013, he worked as an Economist under the Vice Presidency of Financial and Private Sector Development at the World Bank in the U.S. At the World Bank, he contributed to operational projects in various countries. He prepared policy reports and research publications on innovation, entrepreneurship, international trade, and growth in developing countries.
From 2013 to 2016, Şeker served as Head of the Financial Institutions and Investor Relations Department at Ziraat Bank, where he managed all international financing activities and relations with financial institutions and investors. During the same period, he also served as a Board Member at Ziraat Investment, Ziraat Life and Pension, and Ziraat Insurance companies.
In July 2016, Şeker was appointed as Chief Financial Officer (Deputy General Manager for Financial Affairs) of Turkish Airlines (THY), and he has also been assigned as a Member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines. Additionally, he serves on the Boards of Turkish Airlines Technic Inc. and SunExpress, both group companies.
Between 2015 and 2018, Şeker worked as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Boğaziçi University. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2018 and continues his academic work.
