Social Innovation Youth Movement: Serbia

This time, we were in Serbia with the youth!

We were in Serbia for the TÜRGEV Social Innovation Youth Movement Project!

Supported by the Turkish National Agency and coordinated by TÜRGEV, the Erasmus project titled "Social Innovation Youth Movement: Serbia" took place in Serbia from November 12 to 23. Targeting young people aged 18–30, the project aimed to strengthen participants’ awareness of social innovation and encourage them to become catalysts for positive change in society. To this end, participants engaged in a variety of cultural and social activities throughout the program.

During the daily workshops, participants shared their contributions and expectations for the project. In sessions covering the core concepts of social innovation and the importance of social entrepreneurship in society, they learned how to establish a social enterprise, the steps required in the process, and the potential challenges involved. Using the world café method, they explored the fundamentals of social entrepreneurship, rotating between topics to build a more comprehensive framework and laying the groundwork for future projects.

Cultural immersion was an integral part of the experience. Participants visited significant historical sites such as Medijana and the Skull Tower, gaining insights into Serbian culture. In addition, they toured the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Niš, where they were presented with and compared data on women’s entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship practices and policies in Turkey and Serbia.

The program concluded with a technical visit to Vera Leather, a local enterprise established to contribute to women’s employment and serve as an example of local entrepreneurship practices.
