This time, we followed Traces of the Ancient in Denizli!
In the second phase of the Traces of the Ancient project, we visited Denizli to document Yörük culture.
Together with our documentation team, who had received oral history training at Ibn Haldun University, we explored the districts of Tavas, Acıpayam, Çal, Çivril, and Çardak.
We recorded cultural elements of Yörük heritage found in villages and highlands, conducting interviews with a total of 70 sources. For the documentary aspect of the project, our team carried out filming based on a pre-prepared script.
The compilations on the birth, marriage, and death traditions of the Denizli Yörüks, their traditional occupations, cuisine, clothing, socio-cultural life, and cultural vocabulary are being prepared for publication by our students.
The next stop for Traces of the Ancient will be Afyonkarahisar.
