Pusula: Humanity’s Common Direction Brings Turkish and Palestinian Youth Together in Istanbul

Coordinated by Ibn Haldun University in partnership with Al-Quds University in Jerusalem, the project continued with a special program in Istanbul, hosted by TÜRGEV. The gathering offered young people the opportunity to engage on themes of cultural heritage, urban awareness, and human rights.

Youth United in a Spirit of Brotherhood

Held at the Mevlanakapı Higher Education Girls’ Dormitory, the program brought together 13 students from Jerusalem and 15 students from Turkey, selected through a competitive process. In a warm and sincere atmosphere, participants attended academic seminars while also sharing their cultural experiences.

“Palestine is the Conscience of Humanity”

In her remarks, TÜRGEV Chairperson Av. Hatice Akıncı Yılmaz underlined Turkey’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause:

“Palestine is not merely a geography; it is the conscience of humanity. Al-Aqsa Mosque is our common compass. This cause is the struggle for the dignity of all humanity.”

She also highlighted her belief that Turkish and Palestinian youth will go on to represent justice, compassion, and brotherhood in tomorrow’s world.

A Bridge of Brotherhood

For us, this project is more than an educational initiative—it is a bridge of brotherhood that unites hearts. Participants are taking part in both Istanbul- and Jerusalem-based programs, attending training sessions, visiting historic and cultural sites, and building lasting friendships.

A Lasting Vision for Peace and Brotherhood

Launched on May 8, 2025, “Pusula: Humanity’s Common Direction” seeks to raise awareness among youth on international law, religious freedoms, and the protection of cultural heritage. At the conclusion of the program, plans include establishing a “Peace and Brotherhood Olive Grove”—ideally in Jerusalem, or if not possible, in Turkey.
