TÜRGEV Launches Anti-Cyberbullying Campaign: #StopBullying
As the Turkey Youth and Education Service Foundation, we have launched a social responsibility campaign to combat the culture of violence and hate that children and young people, in particular, face—especially in online environments.
Under the title “Online Bullying Awareness Campaign” and with the slogan “#StopBullying”, this initiative aims to reach children, families, and educators through social media platforms. Its goal is to empower internet users of all ages and protect them from online threats.
With the rise of technology and the spread of social networks, an anonymous culture of attacks has entered our lives. This culture has a negative and damaging impact on many internet users, but for children and young people, it can be especially traumatic, harming their self-esteem and social relationships.
Bullying, defined as intentional, persistent, and unfair negative behavior inflicted on children by peers or strangers, differs from ordinary disagreements and conflicts. It is a form of violence that must be recognized and addressed by adults. Unlike physical or verbal bullying, cyberbullying can be carried out much more quietly and subtly, making it harder to detect. This is why awareness and basic digital literacy are of critical importance.
At the campaign’s launch event—attended by experts in child development and social media, opinion leaders, and members of the press—our Chairwoman of the Board, Dr. Fatmanur Altun, presented strong data on the prevalence and effects of online bullying. She emphasized that the situation is not hopeless and that we must use the tools at our disposal effectively and productively.
Inviting participants to become volunteer ambassadors for the campaign, Altun stressed the importance of encouraging internet users of all ages to utilize and share the resources offered within the campaign.
All tools and materials created for the campaign are available at www.zorbaligiengelle.org. The website features:
An informative guide designed for parents and educators,
A comprehensive e-learning section for adults to expand and test their knowledge on bullying,
A chatbot that directs visitors to relevant resources based on their needs.
The site is designed for ease of use by people of all ages.
